Teen Who Boasted About Killing 14-Year-Old Detained for Nearly 12 Years
Manchester, 27 February 2026 – A 14-year-old boy who murdered his peer, Ibrahima Seck, has been detained for 11 years and 10 months after being found guilty of murder, Manchester Crown Court has ruled.
Ibrahima, also 14, was fatally stabbed in the heart on 8 June 2026 in New Moston while on his way to play football. Before succumbing to his injuries, he was able to name his attacker.
The court heard that the accused had boasted about the killing in a rap video, prompting a jury to convict him of murder. Two other teenagers, aged 14 and 16 at the time, were convicted of manslaughter and detained for two years and 10 months and two years and four months, respectively.
Prosecutors described how Ibrahima had been chased by the group into a pub car park, where he was stabbed following a brief scuffle between friends.
The court also sentenced two women, 37 and 39, who assisted the offenders by helping them escape and change clothes, to suspended one-year prison terms.
In court, Ibrahima was remembered as a thoughtful, courageous boy, a loving brother, and someone who dreamed of becoming an actor. His family had previously reported incidents of gang bullying to police, but their warnings tragically went unheeded.
The judge acknowledged that the murder was not premeditated but emphasized the seriousness of the crime while noting the main accused had expressed remorse.
